The Underwater Treadmill Project
Aquatic Treadmills
Underwater treadmill training (UTT) is an emerging treatment method incorporating aerobic and strength training to aid patients with injuries or mobility issues.
Recuperating from serious injuries, these patients are often unable to walk on the ground or experience severe pain doing so.
UTT is considered a safe and comprehensive alternative compared to other conventional rehabilitation techniques, leveraging the physical properties of water to help patients regain their mobility.
The Project
To ensure the highest level of care at Sheba and continue providing patients worldwide ‘Hope Without Boundaries,’
we need your help!
The purchase and installation of two new underwater treadmill systems is planned, each including an adjustable mounting platform,
a video recording system, light fixtures, a counter-current system, and mechanical lifting equipment.
Hydrotherapy
at Sheba
The Hydrotherapy Center at Sheba Rehabilitation Hospital is the biggest of its kind in Israel, with hundreds of patients treated each month for a wide variety of medical conditions. Serving patients from Israel and across the globe, the center’s clinical team has identified a critical deficiency that hampers its therapeutic activities:
the lack of underwater treadmills.
Why Sheba?
The Canadian Friends of Sheba Medical Center is a registered charity based in Toronto committed to supporting the vital work of Sheba Medical Center, a global healthcare leader and the largest, most comprehensive hospital in Israel as well as the Middle East.
