Progress in breast cancer diagnosis with sheba’s new mri device
The first of its kind in Israel, Sheba’s Meirav Cancer Center has recently started using the new Siemens VIDA MRI device to diagnose breast cancer.
Serving increasing demands in high-end clinical imaging and in clinical research, VIDA’s advanced technology offers improved image resolution and facilitates the detection of malignant tumors earlier and more accurately. This is largely due to its brand new magnet and system architecture as well as various revolutionary features. Moreover, VIDA enables more efficient breast biopsies that are also more comfortable for patients. The device is suited for all body sizes, and thus reduces the inconvenience associated with breast cancer testing for many women.
“Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases in the Western world, and early detection can save lives and increase the chances of successful treatment to approximately 90 percent,” says Prof. Miri Sklair-Levy, Head of Sheba’s Breast Imaging Center. “In addition to improving diagnosis and follow-up capabilities, the device facilitates the research of breast diseases and breast cancer in particular.”
Sheba’s Meirav Cancer Center is an interdisciplinary institute for the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases, with an emphasis on preventative medicine and early breast cancer detection. The center provides a comprehensive range of services, which include diagnosis, imaging tests and biopsies, medical consultations, and follow-ups.
